LGMD Centers of Excellence were built with one goal in mind: to improve the lives of people living with limb-girdle muscular dystrophy.
Developed in partnership with leading academic institutions, these centers bring together expert care and coordinated services—all in one place. They exist to shorten the path to care, reduce barriers, and ensure that every individual with LGMD is seen, supported, and connected to the latest advancements.

Living with LGMD often means navigating a complex healthcare system. You shouldn’t have to do that alone.

Each Center of Excellence includes a dedicated LGMD Care Coordinator—someone who understands your journey and helps guide your care. They work alongside you to schedule appointments, coordinate across specialists, and make the process more manageable, so you can focus on what matters most: your health and your life.

We recognize that travel can be a real burden for many in our community. While travel support is not currently available, expanding access and reducing these barriers remains an important goal as we continue to grow and build this program.

No. You can still reach out if you are still pursuing diagnosis, genetic testing, or evaluation.

Care at LGMD Centers of Excellence is delivered through established healthcare systems and is billed through your insurance, as with any medical care.

Patients are responsible for co-pays, deductibles, and other out-of-pocket costs based on their coverage. While there is not currently funding available to offset these expenses, we remain committed to advocating for greater support and access for our community.

Yes. Caregivers and family members can submit a request on behalf of a loved one.

Once you submit your form, you will receive an email with the contact information to the clinic. You will then need to email the LGMD Care Coordinator yourself to receive care.
